New Year's Eve 2010

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!  2011!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of going to the lake this year, we went to Corpus to visit our family and also have our Christmas with them.  We did have to work on New Year's Eve (blah), but we left straight from work and arrived in Corpus at around 10pm.  Abel & Esmi already had a house full of guests ready to ring in the new year.  But someone else had made a visit... any guesses?  This someone left presents for a special little boy and girl.
SANTA!!!
The kids had to hunt the presents!

Merry Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas everyone!!!  I hope everyone's Christmas was a fun-filled, laid back day as ours was.  The kids woke us up around the same time they do everyday, 7ish.  But its hard to get their initial reactions when they have to walk through the living room to get to our room to wake us up.  Hmmm, we might have to work on that for next year.  Maybe sleep in the living room?  Ha!  I'm sure Gabe would love that!!  But I did make them stand in the bedroom to wait until I got the video camera rolling.  With that said, I didn't get many still shots of them opening their gifts.  :(
But they were very excited about everything!!  They are always very appreciative- even for a 2 & 5 year old.  Zach got a Iron Man robot, a Buzz Lightyear arm toy (sorry, didn't know how else to describe it- it straps to his arm and he shoots rubber darts out of it), movies, DS games, coloring accessories, clothes, & a pet blanket.  It gets harder and harder to shop/buy for him... Santa struggled too!! ;)
Sophie got a barbie, a baby doll, DS game, a camera (so her and brother won't fight over his anymore), coloring accessories (have to be fair), clothes, & a pet blanket as well.
After presents and breakfast we let the kids play for a while and then it was time to go to my sister, Becky's house for lunch.  We had an amazing (when is it not amazing?) meal and sat and visited for a while.  We then went home for a little while to rest and then went back over to Becky's to exchange presents with everyone.  This time we were all there, Davis family included.  We ate some more, had some dessert, and watched the kids tear into their presents.  Good times.

Happy Birthday Mom/Grandma & Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is usually a whirlwind of a day... first, it's Christmas Eve!!  The kids are excited and pumped, we have last minute errands and things to do, we usually start preparing for Christmas lunch/dinner, we have church, and then of course it also my Mom's birthday!!!!  Poor Mom, her special day is always consumed with other special day "stuff."  But we still always try to make her feel special.
This year after church we all took her to Texas Land & Cattle for dinner.  We pretty much had our own room which made it feel more private and unique.

Happy Birthday Mom!  We love you!!!

it's ok mom, don't be scared.  lol

funny picture too... what are mom & dad looking at?

For Me??!!??

Here's the story:
I came home from work and checked my email.  First email from AT&T: Thank you for paying your bill.  Etc, etc, etc.  I thought, "That's weird.  I didn't pay the bill today.  Why did I get this email?"  But then just figured that maybe Gabe had paid it and didn't think much of it.
Next email from AT&T:  Welcome to Iphone.  Etc, etc etc.  "WHAT????"  Hmmm, did my account get hacked, or what??  What is going on??  So I yell to Gabe in the other room, "Honey?  Did you buy me an Iphone?????"
Poor thing.  He was trying so hard to surprise me.  Lol!!!  I felt bad that his surprise was ruined, but I was sooo happy to finally get my Iphone!!  I had had my old phone for about two years, so I was definitely due.  Lol!  Great things come to those that wait!
Thank you Honey!  I was surprised... just earlier than you thought! :p

Someone Got An Early Present :p

It was just a simple trip to Wal-Mart (I don't even remember what exactly we went for).  The whole family went, which is always dangerous... Zach wants 5 different cereals, Sophie wants cookies, and my husband... well, somehow he always ends up in the electronics section!  Lol!!!  It never fails.  If the store has a department of electronics, Gabe has to check it out.  No matter if he just checked it out two days ago, he will check it out again!!  Lol!  Buuut, in his defense our t.v. in the living room is pretty bad.  Have I blogged about this yet?  I don't think so.  Let me blog about our crappy t.v.!!!!  We bought a nice 50inch Sony about three years ago.  And of course (about the time the warranty runs out) it starts having problems!  And my Dad was actually the first to point it out.  Our screen would have a green/yellow hue to it.  But only in certain spots, so it was almost like you were imagining it all.  But then eventually it did get worse.  And worse.  And worse.  Lol.  Gabe would constantly say, "We need a new t.v.!"  I knew it was true... I was just not wanting to feel like we "wasted" good money on this crappy t.v.  We did look into getting it fixed and we found that others had run into the same problem that we did.  Apparently it was happening to a lot of people that had bought this version, but of course Sony was doing nothing to compensate and the cost of fixing it wasn't worth it.  It was cheaper just to buy another t.v. (not Sony).  Especially since the prices have gone down a lot.
So here we were in Wal-Mart staring at all of these beautiful, vibrant t.v.'s just waiting to be bought and taken home.  Lol.  We had discussed buying one for our Christmas present to each other, but that was as far as it had gotten.  Just a discussion.  So I surprised my honey by saying, "Let's go ahead and get it today!!"  He couldn't believe his ears!!  Haha!  I think I made his day!  Maybe even his month!  :p
He wasted no time finding someone to help us and load that baby into the shopping cart.  Well, wouldn't you know, they didn't have the one we wanted in stock!  That's ok... have no fear.  We hurried to the next store that did have one and bought it!  Lol!!!  He wasn't going to waste no time while I was being so generous!!  Lol!!!

Merry Christmas Honey!!  Oh, and Merry Christmas to me too!! ;)
So of course when we got home we just had to set it all up and watch a blue ray movie!!!  Wow!!  What a difference!  Our old t.v. was bad, but I just didn't realize how bad!  Lol!!!

The kids enjoyed playing with the styrofoam from the box.  Haha!  If only it was always that simple.  Am I right?

IronMan Plays the Drums??

When coming home from work, I don't always know what to expect when I walk in the door.  A big mess of toys in the living room?  Kids chasing each other around the house?  All of the t.v.'s on because we couldn't agree on what to watch?  Someone crying because they didn't quite get their way?  The list can go on and on.  But this particular day, I REALLY didn't expect this...

My husband never ceases to make me laugh!

My Little Elves Hard At Work

After decorating the outside of the house, we then moved to the inside!!!  I just love decorating the house for Christmas!  And the kids are quite the helpers.  But only if they were a little taller so that all of the ornaments weren't at the same level.  :p

And this next picture cracks me up!!!  Seriously, where does he come up with this stuff?  Lol.  I turn around to find this... he's wearing the tree skirt as a cape!!  Hilarious!

Lights!

Gabe and I decided now that the kids are getting a little older that we should put up lights outside this year.  We figured that they would really enjoy that.  We just wanted to start small, so we decided to line our front walkway.
So we set out to buy the lights.  And we didn't want just any light.  We wanted the big, white bulbs.  Well... don't you know that of course this is the most popular light to put on the outside of your home?  And of course we can't find them ANYWHERE!!!!!  We checked Wal-mart, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot... no luck.  We were just about to give up when my intelligent husband asked me to check the local Ace Hardware on my way home from work one day.  And lo and behold, they had them!  I was so excited!  You would have thought that I had just won the lottery, or something.  Lol!!  So now you know our little secret... check the smaller, less popular store.  ;)

The kids sat and watched while Daddy did most of the work

It's That Time of Year Again

You probably think that I'm referring to Christmastime, right??  That would be the obvious.  But no, I'm talking about this...

turning the fireplace on (even though it is not quite weather appropriate) just so we can "clean" out the wasps!!  It's so annoying, but still so funny that we have to do this every year!  We do this before we put up the Christmas tree because one year we didn't do it beforehand and a few of the wasps flew into the tree.  And of course we couldn't get them out!  Lesson learned!

PJ Day at School

It was pj day at school and the kids dressed the part.  :)
